A recent study found and mapped evidence of 315 major landslides in Buncombe County alone in the last 50 years -- an average of more than six each year. Hundreds more have occurred in the hills and mountains of WNC, including the most recent landslide on 1-40. At the American Red Cross, we encourage you to be prepared for such events.
